The ZOOM meeting was called to order at 6:05PM by President
Jane Hammett-Bright
In attendance were President Jane Hammett-Bright, Marjorie
Riddle Watson Ellen Pfann, Karolynne McAteer, Kathleen Scheiderman, Nancy
Wargas, Patty Pace, Bill Pace, Andrea Pogue, Betty Chapman, Carol Dowd
Kamalbake, David Kirkland, Stephen Roman, Erica Brode, Lynette McMoran, Robert
Robert Stolting, Ruth Stolting and Feli Joeller
Minutes of the February meeting were approved.
Treasurer, Betty Chapman, presented the treasurer’s report,
with explanations of where we are today.
Betty reported that Charitable donations had been
accomplished, with the exception of the police dogs for Pinehurst and Southern
Pines. Karolynne McAteer has visited
both police stations to have discussions with the Canine handlers and about their
needs. Karolynne further commented that
Moore County Sherriff Department has added a canine officer to their
ranks. She will reach out to see if they
have specific canine needs.
Jane reported that there is no updated Agility report at
this meeting.
Jane further reported on the need to involve juniors, and the AKC’s reminder regarding a Juniors Liaison at the club. There will be further discussion in April on this subject.
See the description of the JUNIORS COORDINATOR from an earlier Barker.
Patty Pace made a report on where events at the May dog show
were, in their process, and what committees for the show needed additional
members. Happily the parking committee
is now completed.
Bill Pace reported on the needs of the site, and the days in
which tents would be erected and then inspected. Bill is looking for assistance during set up
days, so at the April meeting we will finalize the needs of that committee.
Karolynne reported further on the show itself, and reminded
us that this is a club event, and there are
still committees that need help.
(eg selling catalogues) Again,
this will be finalized at April meeting.
Karolynne and Patty reiterated the need for a judging
schedule to be posted on our website, and Ellen reminded us that we need it
early enough to make copies for the Springfest in Southern Pines on April 30
(one week before our show.
Ellen went over the Southern Pines Springfest schedule,
from set up, through all presentations to the public, and by the time the call
had ended, the slots were almost completely filled..
We could still have more help for the booth (so people have an opportunity to see a lot of different dogs), as well as set up and breakdown.
In closing, members discussed the issues in Ukraine for
people and their pets, and the need to help.
MCKC voted to support the efforts via the AKC researched humanitarian
efforts; there is a copy of the press release in Barker, with a link to
donate.
I hope everyone is healthy and getting ready for SPRING!!!!.
Our shows will be here before you know it. We need lots of volunteers and volunteering is a great way to get to know your fellow club members. Our march meeting will be by ZOOM due to conflicts with the Raleigh shows. Very hard on people driving back and forth to go to Raleigh and drive home, unload dogs and feed up, then head off to a kennel club meeting.
Ellen will be sending out the required log in info before the zoom meeting.
If there are jobs you feel confident in doing please speak up and attend the April meeting 'in Person'. The April meeting will be a dinner meeting at the Table On The Green. I encourage all who attend to order something to eat or take out.
The order of business for the ZOOM meeting will be as follows
THANK EVERYONE FOR ATTENDING AND OFFERING IDEAS
Jane Hammett Bright
The Agility Trials went very well, and they were profitable, $3,232. The next will be at Bon Clyde in June.

Westminster may be postponed, but thanks to Saturday Night Live, we can still enjoy "BADMINSTER," LIVE from the Cujo Arena:
Via Zoom, with officers, directors and club members attending.
2021 Moore County KC President, Patty Pace called the Zoom
meeting to order at 6:02 PM
The first purpose of the meeting was to announce the election
of officers. As there was no opposition
to the proposed slate of the nominating committee, the President, Patty Pace, cast
a vote to accept the election of officers and directors.

Patty Pace reviewed the Premium List for the May dog show
and asked for someone to
step up to be Vendor Chair. We
anticipate that someone will offer to help coordinate the vendors by the next
meeting.
Patty turned the meeting over to the newly elected
President for 2022, Jane Hammett Bright.
An application was approved for new members James, Erica,
and John Brody, who have Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
Karolynne McAteer asked that we review our charities, for
year 2022, and that we catch up on charitable donations not written for
2021. She asked that Take the Lead
receive their check as soon as possible, as they are hosting a major
fundraising event at the Raleigh shows in March. Karolynne also mentioned that she’d like to visit the
police departments of Southern Pines and Pinehurst to speak with the police
chiefs, and possibly the canine handlers, about funding a new dog via the AKC
Adopt a k9Cop program. It is a
terrific offer that comes via AKC REUNITE to have the local dog clubs
donate/raise $2,500 per dog and Reunite will kick in the remaining $7,500. Regardless of the outcome of that
conversation, MCKC will
send, as usual, checks for $1,000 to each of the two police stations (both of
whom have police dogs.)
There was a discussion about Juniors, and the AKC
suggestion that every club
have a Juniors Liaison focused on getting Juniors into our membership. Information will be provided to
Jane, by Karolynne, to get the ball rolling. There is also a very good book on the 4H
presence in dogs, and we will get that book as well.
Ellen Pfann will
update the officers and directors list and send the new list to AKC and update
the website. Ellen asked that everyone send her their brags so she will have
material for the BARKER.
Betty Chapman reported on the treasury and said there has
not been much activity this first month, but she expects more with Agility
checks coming in, and the start of vendors booking space for the MCKC show. Betty
reports that the treasury is strong.
There was a discussion, led by Ursula Walsh, on locations
for the upcoming Agility trials, and she will keep us posted.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:05PM.

Many thanks to Sandy Fischer and Ursula Walsh, as well as all the other volunteers making our Agility trials so amazing.
This was shortly after we had lost Rudy, our Hall of Fame dog, and we really weren’t emotionally ready for a puppy yet. You know how that goes.
We visited the litter at week 8 and took pick of litter, Mr. Orange, home with us. “Peat,” now CH Victory’s Scotch N Soda CD JH, has made it all so much better. He is 80 pounds of lap dog, beautiful, smart and talented.
Peat finished his championship on his first birthday and followed shortly after with obedience and hunt titles. He brings us joy with his silly Flat-Coat antics and he is our devoted companion.

Naomi Johnson says:
I have 2 sweet, gentle, wonderful hound girls looking for homes. They came from terrible, neglectful conditions, and we rescued them from Hoke County Animal Shelter where they'd been for almost 5 months.
Both are housebroken, great with dogs, cats, kids, walk well on a lead, and are learning basic commands. We had them spayed and treated for heartworm. Tally (with toys) is 6-8 years old and badly needed a dental. Maddie (with cat) is 2-3 years old.
If you are interested in either of them (or know anyone who might be) please call Naomi at (910) 528-6588.
