MOORE COUNTY KENNEL CLUB ELECTIONS

As American As Apple Pie
or Walking Dogs in the Village
Carol Dowd Kamalbake
Nominating Committee Chairperson

Carol has graciously agreed to chair this committee. She will be polling Current Officers and Directors, as well as General Membership: "Are you interested in serving on the MCKC's BOD?" It is very gratifying work, as MCKC gives so much to our community.

If interested, or if you would like to consider it, please contact Carol Dowd Kamalbake today.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

At the September 22 Board Meeting, the MCKC Board of Directors agreed by Consent Agenda to "fast track" Members that have been waiting for approvals during the past few months - when the club has not been meeting due to concerns over COVID-19.

The Traditional Approval Process is:
  1. Membership Chair receives the Application and Dues.
  2. Membership Chair presents Application to the BOD.
  3. Board approves application (or not).
  4. First Reading During General Membership Meeting.
  5. Application for Membership is brought up for a vote at the following General Meeting (2nd presentation). 75% of the members present must approve in order to elect the applicant.
The Fast Track Version will look like this:
  1. The Membership Chair has received Applications.
  2. These applicants are at different stages in the traditional approval process.
  3. The Board Reviewed the Applications
  4. Each of the Applicants is listed below.
  5. Each Member should review each of these Prospects and provide any relevant feedback to Membership Chair, Marjorie Riddle Watson. (link to her email in name)
  6. These Prospects will be read at the NEXT GENERAL MEETING, and a vote will be taken - which will occur October 19 or 21 at the Porch at Rudino's -- more information to come.
On 5/26/2021, the Board voted:
If a former MCKC member wishes to re-join, they are to submit an application and dues which will be reviewed by the Board.  Following approval by the Board, the application will be read at the next general meeting and a vote will be taken.  (This will skip one reading of the application).

As of today, here is the current status of Membership Applications to Moore County Kennel Club. Some will be presented under the Traditional Process, one as a Re-Join, and others under the Fast Track:

POSTPONEMENT OF SOCIAL GATHERING AUGUST 11th.

. . . Just when we all thought we could go back to business (or in our case, fun) as usual. . . WHAM. Out of an abundance of caution, the August 11th Social at Betty's House is postponed, due to concerns about the Delta Variant of COVID 19.

We are all disappointed, but when we weigh the risks of an indoor gathering, the decision was made.

It is summer, and unfortunately outdoor get-togethers are difficult. But check out the post on Walking Club! It is a much safer way for like-minded dog people to get together. And you can bring your dogs too!

Brielle says:
"COVID-19 GIVES ME A HEADACHE"

MCKC WALKING CLUB

Let's dust off those sneakers and get ourselves and our dogs moving.

The Delta Variant won't stop us from safe activity outside.

Since we are in the Dog Days of Summer, let's get together at 7 AM? We can do about 1 mile at Rassie Wicker Park (a lot of which is shaded)!

Who's with me?

Let me know which of these dates work for you. And the most votes will be our date - to be announced:

Sunday, August 15 at 7 AM
Tuesday, August 17 at 7 AM
Saturday, August 21 at 7 AM

"GENIE" ROCKS RETIREMENT

 JEFFERIE CADE REPORTS:

My German Pinscher bitch Genie (GCH CH Windamir’s Imogene v. Amberlane) came out of retirement in May to celebrate the German Pinscher Club of America’s postponed  2020 National Specialty held within Moore County’s all-breed shows.

For practice, we went to Lumberton the 1st weekend in May for the Myrtle Beach KC shows. Genie was awarded back to back Best of Breeds. Genie was awarded best veteran in sweepstakes and Best Opposite Sex at the German Pinscher National Specialty the second weekend in May held within the MCKCNC show weekend. She also received the nod for Select Bitch the next day at the German Pinscher Regional Specialty held within the MCKCNC weekend. Not too shabby for an old gal nearly eight years old who has given birth to two litters!
