UPCOMING ALL-BREED SHOW: May 7-9, 2021

 CURRENT DETAILS:

  • Club normally orders two large tents. This year - both tents will be used for Grooming, in order to Social Distance.
  • Vendors normally under the second tent will be able to bring their own 10x10 tents to sell from.
  • We are limiting the show to 1000 dogs per day --- and believe we will reach that number. Our show takes place outside, which is more desirable for those concerned about the pandemic.
  • The club suggests that those wanting to show keep their eye on the MBF show list -- because many shows have been maxing out very early.
  • Trophies will be awarded to each of the Groups and the Best In Show.
For details, keep an eye on our webpage.

WANT TO LEARN TO ZOOM?

Contact Ellen Pfann if you wish to learn to Zoom.  During the pandemic, the club has been conducting all meetings by Zoom. It's better than a phone call, because we get to actually SEE one another.

GENERAL ZOOM MEETING February 18, 2021

PRESENT:

Betty Chapman, Beth Verner, Bob Stolting, Ruth Stolting, Karolynne McAteer, Kathy Scheidemann, Ginny Conover, Mary Wood, Carol Dowd, Jessica Schollaert, Patty Pace, Bill Pace, Ellen Pfann, Ursula Walsh
GUEST: Angie Gelman

MEETING TO ORDER: President Patty at 6:06 PM.

TREASURY: Betty Chapman

The club’s Treasury is healthy, even though we didn’t have a Dog Show in 2020 (due to COVID-19). Betty asked the Club to consider re-instating our donations and asked that the club come up with a priority in 2021. We will not be doubling donations to make up for the 2020 shortfall.

No Motion. No Vote.

GUEST:

ANGIE GILMAN – Ellen noticed a new person logging onto the Zoom Meeting. She was welcomed and asked to introduce herself. Angie lives in Carthage and has two Great Danes. As a child, she was active in Junior Showmanship. Patty Pace and Ellen Pfann offered to be her sponsors.

WELCOME ANGIE!

Membership Chairperson Marjorie Riddle Watson will be notified to take the application to the next level.

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: Ellen Pfann – No Report

Action Items:

1.       Ursula Walsh asked that the upcoming Agility Trials at Teamworks be added to the website April 30, May 1, & 2, 2021. Ursula will send the Premium when ready.

2.       Ursula asked that the June 10, 11, 12, 13, 2021 Agility Trial scheduled for Bon Clyde be added to the website.

3.       Betty Chapman asked that all those that don’t feel comfortable on Zoom be invited to learn Zoom.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Patty Pace

·         Vendors if they attend, will need to supply their own 10x10 Tent and will not be under the big tent. Dick Rumbo has been invited to sell basic show supplies.

·         Premium was submitted to MBF on February 17, 2021

·         Limit this year will be 1000 dogs per day. Normally the show attracts 700 per day. But many shows have been cancelled and there is demand, so the feeling is that we could likely meet our maximum. Club hasn’t been given an exact “opening” day. Golden Retriever people and German Pinscher People are having their specialties on Friday. AKC prohibits the club from giving them priority for rest of weekend. But we will notify the clubs to make sure they tell their members to keep their eye on the MBF website.

·         Professional Stewards are confirmed.

·         Parking – there will be a pre-pay option. Others will have to have exact change.

·         Nancy Vargas has agreed to spearhead the raffle.

DOG SHOW REPORT: Karolynne McAteer

·         No Vendors with exception of select 10x10 tents out in open.

·         Big Vendor Tent normally used for vendors will be converted to an additional Grooming Tent, to account for Social Distancing.

·         Porta Potties confirmed

·         Fire Extinguishers confirmed

·         Will not need the normal 8 tables or 100 chairs --- because spectators will not be invited to sit (due to COVID).

·         No Demo’s, no CGC.

·         Since we don’t know whether spectators will be allowed due to COVID regulations, we won’t be advertising or putting anything into Calendars. We may consider Facebook Paid advertising within 3 weeks (Ellen).

·         TROPHIES: limited to Groups and Best in Show --- we got donations for these last year – and since the 2020 show was cancelled, those donations will be carried over to this year.

BRAGS:

Jessica Schollaert’s Wheaton Terrier “Tula” is the #1 Bitch in the country and the #2 Wheaton in the country. WTG TULA!

Ellen Mantel Pfann’s German Shepherd Brielle is featured in a new Independent Film – “GOODBYE, BUTTERFLY.” It can be viewed on several streaming services including Amazon Prime and iTunes. BRAVO BRIELLE!

Kathy Scheidemann’s Piper received her Junior Hunter (JH). Piper will continue her training toward the Senior Hunting title with her Professional Trainer. BRING IT ON PIPER!

A LETTER FROM PRESIDENT PATTY

 Greetings Moore County KC Membership!!

Well we are turning the corner on winter and March will be here before we know it! We are also hopefully turning the corner on COVID and can get back to our fun times together!

We have our next general membership meeting via Zoom set for Wednesday February 17th at 6pm. Ellen will send out the link to join the meeting a day or so before. We have a lot to discuss regarding our upcoming all breed dog show and our spring agility show both scheduled for early May. We have some catching up to do this year with our charitable donations and will discuss our plan moving forward.

I believe most have paid their 2021 dues and Majorie Watson has done a bang up job putting together our new membership list which you all will receive. It is exciting that despite how crazy 2020 was for all that our club membership is strong and still growing!

I know we are all looking forward to a great 2021. Let’s get it started with everyone attending our February meeting on the 17th at 6pm. Looking forward to once again catching up with everyone!

 Best regards to all!

 President Patty

MINUTES: General Membership Meeting Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 6:00 PM

Wednesday, 12/2/2020 at 6PM

The meeting was called to order by President, Patty Pace, at 6.03PM

In attendance were:

Patty Pace, Bill Pace, Betty Chapman, Beth Verner, Lynn Cox,           Sandy Fisher, David Kirkland, Stephen Roman, Karolynne McAteer,    Mary Wood, Ellen Pfann, Mari-Beth O’Neil, Kathy Scheideman,          Ursula Walsh, Carol Dowd Kamalbake

AGILITY:

An agility report was presented by Sandy Fisher with comments by Ursula Walsh.

·   The Agility trial in August at Teamworks (outdoor undercover facility in Wake Forest) had a profit of about $2,000
·         the October Trial had a profit of $4,673.
·           This was great news, and terrific that our Agility members ran such a safe and successful event.  BRAVO.
·         The January Agility trial is cancelled, as it is normally too cold for an outdoor trial.
·         The June event is 4 days, and it is anticipated that it will take place at Bon Clyde.  The date for June will be confirmed to us, so we can publish this in THE BARKER.

ALL-BREED CONFORMATION SHOWS:

The May show was discussed, all paperwork is into AKC.

·         Regrettably, Bob Slay will be unable to accept his assignment, and the two days of judges have been re-worked.
·         The May show will follow all best AKC Practices for safety.   We anticipate a large entry as everyone is eager to be out and at shows, particularly when they are outdoors.
·         The Goldens will have specialty and supported entries over the course of the three days (Friday specialty) and
·         the German Pinchers will hold their National on Saturday and a supported entry on the Sunday.
·         We will NOT have additional events this year, like a match show, or CGC testing etc.
·         To date we have not made the decision regarding spectators, so we are uncertain of the ability to make money on parking.

·         We also will need to decide on food, and how best to handle feeding our exhibitors and judges etc.  We will wait until February to make that decision, and then hope that all else holds itself in place.   We will need help!!  Please volunteer to assist in the myriad jobs that will need to be covered.   Karolynne McAteer is once again the show chair.

TREASURY POSITION:

Mary Wood is retiring as Treasurer.

·         Betty Chapman has kindly stepped in to take on the role for 2021.

·         Our thanks to Mary for all her work as treasurer, particularly in 2020 when it was difficult to move ahead with no meetings.  THANKS MARY.  We want to hear more about the new house!!

MEMBERSHIP:

·         New Members were discussed, there are 5 membership applications that need to be read and approved by the board.   We will handle this in January via special board phone call to just discuss and approve.

·         Time to renew memberships! Renewals are going out.

The meeting was adjourned at 6.37, but many stayed on to continue social conversation.
